The Straw Rockets began as a recording studio session group. Commissioned for the musical score for a new Twin Cities musical, they found that the international background of the group members was a special blend of writers and styles that propelled them to create their first album " Put Some on the Plate."

Alexander Twum a.k.a. “O Music”
Lead Vocalist, Drums, Keyboard
“O Music” is originally from Accra, Ghana and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He comes from a long history of family musicians. Playing drums by age 10 and studying keyboard later in his life, Alex became well known in the Canadian musician community. Since coming to America in 2009, Alex has focused on studio work and writing music. Alex considers the multicultural backgrounds of the members of The Straw Rockets to be the key influence for their popularity in many different ethnic and age backgrounds.
Lead Guitarist, Lead Vocalist
Born in the Philippines, Ray was a musical prodigy. Starting at age 5, he was performing on both radio and television and then toured the with the USO with music legends during his teenage years. He then went on to graduate from Gamma Musical Conservatory and came to the United States. Since coming to the US, Ray has become one of the most sought after and respected studio musicians/song writers in the Midwest. Ray believes The Straw Rockets are at the right time with the right people and enjoys the common thread of a positive message.
Lead Vocalist, Percussionist
Jim is a native Minnesotan. He has been involved in music all of his life. Starting with school band, playing the clarinet, to performing professionally across the country as a drummer/vocalist. While he enjoys performing, working in the recording studio writing music and lyrics is his first love. He feels that the music being created by The Straw Rockets has great messages and lots of creative combustion.
